Ski touring gives visitors the chance to climb a mountain on foot before skiing down off-piste, while cross-country skiing is a great way to enjoy the landscape. Guests who enjoy walking in summer will love snowshoeing in winter, with plenty of snow-covered forests and meadows around the hotel waiting to be explored.

Visitors in need of the right equipment can visit the two rental shops in the village, Sport Kendlbacher and Intersport Lackner. Their friendly and experienced staff will be happy to help.

Show moreThe local mountain sports association BERG-GESUND runs a programme of winter activities ranging from ski touring and cross-country skiing to winter walks and snowshoe adventures with guides.
- Großarl cross-country skiing trail: Just 200 metres from the GROSSARLER HOF, towards Hüttschlag, you will find the access point to this cross-country skiing trail. It has a relatively gentle profile and leads from Großarl to Kösslerhäusl and back. The trail is suitable for both the traditional Classic technique and the more modern and dynamic Skating technique.
- Reitwiese cross-country skiing loop: This trail includes a practice area for children and is floodlit three times a week. It is just a short walk from our hotel.
- Hüttschlag cross-country skiing trail: This trail begins in Hüttschlag and takes you to the end of the Großarltal Valley, past the mighty mountains forming the Hohe Tauern National Park. There is a 3 km section near the Aschaustüberl hut which is floodlit in the evening.
